Many people look to the new year as a fresh start. It’s a good time to make resolutions, set goals, and take steps to make them a reality. However, a January 2022 article from Inc magazine states that of the 41% of Americans who make goals for the new year, only 9% are successful. Of those who had success with their resolutions, here’s what most of them had in common:
Set Specific Goals
Setting detailed and challenging goals leads to a higher success rate. To reach your goals, you’ll want to define what will be accomplished and outline the actions to take to achieve them.
Have an honest dialog with yourself to determine if you can go “all in” to make a specific and well-outlined goal a reality. Picture the end result and ask how badly you want it. Are you willing to put in the work and stay true to the plan to make to achieve the goal?
Have a Support System
Side-step anyone who does not support your efforts and surround yourself instead with others who will help you on your journey. Get feedback and accountability from coaches, trainers, and trusted friends or family members.
Go Small to Achieve Big
If a goal feels too big to take on, break it down into smaller chunks. Create a new set of realistic tasks around each smaller goal and approach things one step at a time.So, what goals have you set for 2023? Is this the year you’ve vowed to get in shape, eat better, or take more “me” time? Are you focusing on your business to strengthen your team, fill your chairs, or increase service and retail sales?
